IF I STAY - MOVIE REVIEW

0

If I Stay stars Chloe Grace Moretz as Mia and Jamie Blackley as Adam and yet another novel into movie adaptation. Chloe Moretz plays a high school student that sort of an outcast not only in school but at home as well.

She's a classical student, totally into the cello but her parents are into rock and roll as well as her brother. She kinda feel left put even in her own home, but her parents do treat her well and she does get along with them. Unfortunately she does not feel part of the group.

While she's in school practicing her cello in a class all by her self, Adam comes strolling along and sees this beautiful girl. This seem kind of normal except the fact that he was stalking her through the window for weeks. Finally he got the courage to ask her out on a date and that is where the love begins.

Time passes and Mia's mom decided to hang out with the family and then they had this great idea to take the whole family out for a drive. They got in the car crash, Mia has out of her body experience and rush everyone to the hospital and se has to figure out if she wants to live or die.

While she's having out of her body experience, the movies switches froam past to present. While it's in the past it shows the relationship between Mia and Adam as well as her parents.

You could really feel the love in this movie at every level. From the boyfriend and girlfriend, brother and sister love, and even and the love between Mia and her parents.

But I found it very confusing that the movie really focusing on the boyfriend and girlfriend love, which I thought so disrespectful to the book.

I have to give you a warning, If I Stay is a very sad movie. A lot of people were crying in the cinema, I was crying towards the end. The way the movie progressed was unlikeable. Because it had this tunnel vision on this boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. When anyone falls in love, it's all consuming. It is so exiting to discover someone new who you hope might be part from your life.
